New stuffGetting a bit bored with Dark Age of Camelot again, so I tried some games that I had had sitting around for a while but had not yet gotten around to playing.
Robotech: Battlecry (XBox). Picked this up used for $15. It had looked pretty neat. Most people seem to have gotten over their interest in the cel shading look, but I still like it a lot. It's a very neat-looking game. So far the action has been a bit repetitive. Fly/hover/run around, shoot the Zentraedi. My main problem has been how different the controls are between the three modes of the ValkyrieVeritech. And I can't decide if I want the controls for the plane mode to be pressing down moves me up (probably), or pressing up moves me up (probably not). Same for sniper mode.
Freedom Force (PC). Now a relatively inexpensive PC game, Freedom Force is touted as the superhero game which broke the historical lineage of superhero games sucking eggs. Basically it is a realtime strategy superhero game. I had played the demo way back when. So far so good, except that even in the training mission my main character is getting totally slaughtered. Took me at least 5 tries to get through that darn first mission. We'll see how it goes. The main thing to which I am looking forward for this game is how many mods there are for it -- custom skins, and new levels.
